Direct Support Professional

About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, and more. The DSP also assists with medical appointments, banking, community activities, medication administration, following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Advocate and support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Support with household tasks such as cleaning, cooking, and shopping
• Assist with personal care routines including bathing, toileting, dressing, and teeth brushing
• Absentee support for medical appointments, banking, and community activities
• Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans
• Follow medical guidelines and evacuation procedures in case of emergencies
• Maintain certifications and comply with agency policies and DDS regulations

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Must be 21 years old
• Valid driver's license with daily use of a car on site (preferred but not required)
• Available by telephone for daily contact
