Responsibilities
- Provide care services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Offer community integration/inclusion guidance and consultation to individuals, families, and significant involved persons.
- Develop opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in community activities.
- Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of residential participants living in the facility through proper supervision.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record, MVD report, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to prepare required paperwork and type.
- Working knowledge of computers and electronic clinical record keeping.
- Ability to successfully complete certifications and trainings for First Aid, CPR, Article 9, Medication, and Prevention/Support, Direct Care Worker, and any other required training.
- Able to operate independently with minimal oversight.
- Demonstrated skills for respectful communication to participants and coworkers.
- Obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance card and pass a background check along with Central Registry Clearance.
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and a varied schedule each week.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Sign Language.
- Prior experience in Habilitation or Rehabilitation.
- Two years of experience in a person-centered community integration program assisting persons with developmental and/or psychiatric disabilities.
- Two years of experience in habilitation/rehabilitative assistance to persons with psychiatric and/or developmental disabilities.
- Very strong interpersonal skills.
