Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities — both at home and in their community — helping them live as independently as possible.
  • Read, understand, and follow the client’s Individual Support Plan (ISP), and report back to the IDD Program Specialist.
  • Safeguard individuals with daily living skills such as cooking, cleaning, personal care (i.e. grooming, hygiene etc.), or transportation.
  • Encourage participation in social and community activities – shopping, social events etc.
  • Help people achieve personal goals and celebrate progress.
  • Promote choice, independence, and self-advocacy.
  • Accurately document care, activities, and progress.
  • Communicate with team members to ensure consistent, quality support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; or completion of a state approved training program; or demonstrate skills and receive a passing score on a written competency test.
  • Successful background check and required in-service trainings.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with proof of insurance, inspection and registration.
  • Ability to work safely and respectfully in clients’ homes and communities.
  • Compassion, reliability, and a desire to make a positive impact.

New Hire Milestone Bonus

The $1,000 new hire milestone bonus is valid for caregivers that start on 6/22/2026 or later. This new hire bonus is paid in 8 increments, with the total accumulated $1,000 paid out after the caregiver has worked 1,000 hours from the start date. Caregivers must be active and must use electronic visit verification for hours to accumulate toward payout milestones. Caregivers transferring from an organization within the Help at Home, LLC portfolio of companies are not eligible to receive the bonus. Former employees must be returning after an absence period of at least one year to be eligible. The milestones must be reached within 18 months from start date.
