Direct Support Professional

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with daily living activities, including hygiene, cooking, housekeeping, and laundry.
• Aid in medication administration, transportation to appointments, and behavioral support as needed.
• Encourage independence and community involvement by supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals.
• Foster a positive, respectful environment that promotes dignity, choice, and inclusion.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of work experience with individuals with special needs is preferred.
• A valid NYS driver's license for two years and an acceptable driving record.
• The ability to safely lift and assist up to 70 lbs, to support individuals' mobility, personal care, transfers, and emergency needs with care and dignity.

• $17/hour starting pay.
• $17.50/hour with a bachelor’s degree or three years of experience.
• Up to $20/hour differential pay in certain locations.
• $0.75/hour increase after completing all required training.
