Duties

  • Provide and ensure quality direct care to residents under the direction and guidance of the Treatment Team Leader, Administrator and/or designee.
  • Support, assist and encourage residents who have been diagnosed with mild or moderate intellectual disability and mental health diagnosis with activities of daily living including hygiene care, meal preparation, medication administration and other areas they need assistance.
  • Implement individual Treatment Plans/Individual Support Plans/Behavioral Management Plans as appropriate and document as required.
  • Maintain CPR, first aid, and behavioral management certifications.
  • Met mandatory staff development requirements of Fire/Safety, Infection Control, Person Centeredness, and Human Rights.
  • Supervise and monitor residents at all times to ensure their safety in the home and when present in the community.
  • Attend and actively participate in treatment team meetings to design treatment interventions, review progress and provide feedback for treatment planning.
  • Cookordinate activities and daily living events.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and privacy of residents and employees’ personally identifiable health information at all times in accordance with HIPPA privacy rules and company policies.

Supervision

The position reports directly to the Residential Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Possess a high school diploma or the GED equivalent
  • Have a valid Virginia Driver’s License
  • Have one year of full time or equivalent part-time paid or volunteer experience in the care, training, habilitation and development of individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, physical challenges or children with mental illness
  • Be able to read and possess the ability to write adequate documentation on a daily basis on each resident
  • Be CPR and first aid certified and have medication administration certification with the insulin module
  • Work in conjunction with other staff to monitor, supervise, and train residents of the homes
  • Display socially acceptable behavior and values as presented in the policy and procedure manual
  • Be able to lift a minimum of 80 pounds
