Direct Support Professional
About the role
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who are committed to providing high-quality, person-centered care in a supportive and respectful environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of working with individuals with traumatic brain injuries, excellent communication skills, and a genuine passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve.
Responsibilities
- Support adults with traumatic brain injuries participating in our Day Program, helping them achieve their individual goals, build independence, and enhance their quality of life.
- Carry out behavioral treatment plans and collect direct observational data.
- Provide assistance with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, social awareness, meal preparation, money management, and housekeeping.
- Teach daily living and functional skills to help individuals achieve personal goals and transition to less restrictive residential settings.
- Accompany individuals to healthcare appointments and community outings and provide safe transportation.
- Resolve problem behavior situations and provide intervention while adhering to Bancroft’s quality standards for safety and approved crisis techniques.
- Complete paperwork and provide regular documentation as required.
- Maintain effective communication with residents and their parents, guardians, and other family members.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License in the candidates’ legal name and current address with one year minimum driving experience, in good standing and free of restrictions
- Minimum of six months related work experience OR Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in a degree program in Psychology, Social Work, or related field

- Aspiration to work with autistic, intellectually and developmentally challenged individuals
- Prior experience working with individuals with autism, intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred
