About the role

As a caregiver at Sevita, you’ll assist people with personal hygiene and support individuals who may have behavioral challenges and other complex needs. You’ll work in crisis homes providing support and supervision to individuals with disabilities and/or mental illness who require crisis intervention services and behavioral programs. Your role will focus on rehabilitation, stabilization, and transitioning individuals back to permanent housing.

You’ll implement formal and informal crisis plans, program plans, and behavioral objectives using person-centered planning. You’ll maintain documentation, participate in regular meetings, and complete required training. Your responsibilities include responding to crises, monitoring safety, and providing support in a positive therapeutic manner with the least restrictive methods of positive intervention.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently at home and in their community.
  • Assist with personal hygiene and daily living activities.
  • Manage behavioral challenges and complex needs, including crisis intervention.
  • Implement person-centered crisis plans, program plans, and behavioral objectives.
  • Maintain safety and provide supervision in a positive therapeutic manner.
  • Use positive redirection and behavior modification programs to support individuals.
  • Document and record progress, participate in meetings, and complete required training.
  • Help individuals build skills in budgeting, exercise, nutrition, and community participation.
  • Support individuals with mental health conditions such as bipolar, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, PTSD, substance use disorders, and others.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s license and access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance.
  • 3 years of experience in human services, direct care, or care coordination (preferred).
  • 3 years of experience working with individuals with severe mental illness, crisis intervention, physical interventions, and behavior supports.
  • Experience with challenging behaviors such as property destruction, manipulation, elopement, paranoia, substance abuse, isolation, and self-injury.
  • Training and experience in positive redirection and behavior modification programs.
