About the role

Bridgewell strengthens communities by providing a range of social and human services. We deliver support through community housing, day programs, outpatient treatment, recovery services, education, and employment training. We help people with various life challenges, from autism to substance use disorders, to become active members of their communities. Bridgewell is also known for developing innovative services to meet unmet or emerging needs.

Responsibilities

  • Create opportunities and provide support to people in our services to make decisions and foster independence.
  • Provide services to people in our services according to regulatory standards and Bridgewell policies.
  • Transport and accompany people in our services to and from medical, recreational, and other activities outside the program.
  • Maintain daily progress notes, shift checklists, shift assignments, and other required documentation.
  • Complete household cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Conduct all steady care calls as per guidelines (applies to all awake overnight shifts).
  • Assist people in our services with accessing resources and recreational opportunities in the community.
  • Administer medications according to MAP regulations, as applicable.
  • Maintain all mandatory training certifications such as FA/CPR, PABC, and MAP.
  • Develop positive relationships with guardians, family members, and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as the program's specific Fire Safety Officer or Safety Coordinator or Human Rights Officer.
  • Comply with Bridgewell Safety Checks Policy.
  • Attend and participate in program staff meetings and supervision meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • At least 5+ years of verified experience in the same position is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience working with people with developmental or psychiatric disabilities preferred.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy to include proficiency in Microsoft products (Email, Word, Excel, etc.) and web-based applications used by the agency.
  • Ability to drive a large and/or wheelchair van as well as hold a valid US driver's license with a minimum of one year of driving experience in the United States.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands of employees working in residential programs assisting people with their care needs are varied and require the employee to be able to maneuver people of varying weights, and provide lifting, balanced support, and physical intervention in a few scenarios.
  • Ability to climb stairs, physically assist people served, often weighing more than 200 pounds, with movement, bathroom routines including toileting, assisting with entry and exit of a tub or shower, getting into and out of wheelchairs or dealing with assists that include physical, behavioral, and medical interventions.
  • Additional lifting or moving may be required as part of activities in the daily living of people in our services.
