About the role
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is a full-time, on-site role based in Pittsburgh, PA.
Responsibilities
- Implementing individualized support plans
- Promoting community integration
- Accompanying individuals to appointments and activities
- Encouraging skill-building and independence
- Monitoring well-being
- Documenting services and progress
- Communicating effectively with supervisors, team members, families, and external providers
- Participating in required trainings
- Following agency policies and safety procedures
- Contributing to a positive, respectful environment
Qualifications
- Background in Human Services or related fields, with an understanding of person-centered support and community-based care
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication abilities to build trust, collaborate with teams, and interact effectively with individuals and families
- Knowledge of supporting individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, including respectful assistance with daily living and behavioral supports
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training related to care practices, safety, and compliance requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; postsecondary education in human services, social work, psychology, or related areas is beneficial
- Ability to work on-site in Pittsburgh, PA, with reliability in scheduling and commitment to full-time hours
- Basic documentation and computer skills for recording services, progress notes, and communication logs
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are preferred; ability to assist with community outings as needed
