About the role
Provides leadership to Life Skills Trainers (LST) in the residence and in the community and delivers direct services to program participants. You’ll join a mission-driven team at REM Community Services, part of the Sevita family, dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Participates in client training to assure client objectives and company goals are achieved.
- Engages in community outings and conducts house orientation for new employees, serving as a role model to ensure accurate and timely documentation.
- Adjusts staffing assignments as needed, including replacing, reassigning, or canceling shifts.
- Facilitates problem-solving for residential staff, provides direct supervision, and initiates corrective action interventions when required.
- Coordinates and completes accident, injury, and incident report investigations for events occurring during shifts.
- Assumes an immediate leadership role in implementing personal intervention, active treatment, and crisis prevention as needs arise.
- Successfully completes mandatory training and attends annual or semi-annual refresher/re-certification courses prior to certification expiration.
- Assists with staffing needs and recruitment as required.
- Reviews client progress, coordinates and implements shift objectives, and makes recommendations to supervisors.
- Delivers services such as skills training, job coaching, and behavior management in accordance with the Individual Plan (IP) and/or treatment team.
- Provides coaching and leadership to LSTs to ensure therapeutic goals are met and programs are facilitated respectfully.
- Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures, as well as compliance with relevant external regulatory statutes and standards.
- Performs other delegated duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Leads assigned staff, including conducting performance evaluations, scheduling, orientation, and trainings.
- Resolves employee problems within the scope of the position.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two years’ experience providing direct services in the human services field.
- Current driver's license, car registration, and auto insurance if providing transportation for individuals receiving services.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification as required.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
