Direct Support Floater

About the role

At Ability Beyond, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live a fulfilling and independent life. As a Direct Support Floater, you will support adults with various types of needs in both residential and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
• Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed
• Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, communication, and meal planning
• Provide transportation to medical appointments, errands, and community outings
• Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities such as fitness, crafts, Special Olympics, and community events
• Implement behavioral support strategies and use de-escalation techniques when needed
• Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members to provide well-rounded care
• Assist with goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development
• Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress, and daily activities

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-year previous experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to learn, paid training is provided

Qualifications

• Caregiver must be compassionate, dependable, and motivated to support others

Skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR
