About the role
Ability Beyond supports adults with various needs in both residential and community settings. The Direct Support Floater plays a crucial role in helping individuals build life skills, achieve personal goals, and remain active in their communities.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on support with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Assist with personal care, including bathing, toileting, and medication reminders as needed
- Support individuals in developing independent living skills such as budgeting, communication, and meal planning
- Encourage participation in social, recreational, and volunteer activities such as fitness, crafts, Special Olympics, and community events
- Implement behavioral support strategies and use de-escalation techniques when needed
- Collaborate with nurses, behaviorists, nutritionists, and other clinical team members to provide comprehensive care
- Aid in goal planning, progress tracking, and skill development
- Maintain accurate documentation of services, progress, and daily activities
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year previous experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to learn and participate in paid training

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures
- Experience with de-escalation techniques and behavioral support
