About the role
The Direct Service Provider (DSP) will be responsible for interacting with and providing a safe environment, including social and community support activities, to the participants served. The DSP reports to the Program Innovation Leader and the Director of Programs.
Responsibilities
- Actively engage with participants in daily activities that support a person-centered approach and supports the participant’s individual program goals.
- Encourage participants to join activities while promoting individual choice and decision-making opportunities.
- Plan and conduct art activities with participants that allow them to learn new mediums, techniques, and approaches in order to fully develop their own choice and decision-making opportunities.
- Aid in managing program operations such as inventory of material, attendance, cleanliness, and progress of work completed by participants.
- Provide positive feedback/critique on work being made by participants in order for their work to keep on improving.
- Ability to follow directions, calendars and daily schedules to ensure an active program.
- Complete documentation including but not limited to: daily logs, incident reports, and attendance logs, outing forms and transportation logs.
- Promote community integration by ensuring participants have full access to the community through outings, field trips, and attending special events.
- Ensure compliance with all Licensing, CARF, Regional Center and The Arc policies and procedures.
- Ensure environments meet health and safety requirements by maintaining clean and orderly environment at all times.
- Report any health and safety concerns to supervisors.
- Attend departmental staff meetings and trainings.
- Perform additional tasks and duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must pass a fingerprint and criminal background check.
- Hold a current California driver’s license, able to drive a passenger van and have a clean driving record.
- Can lift a minimum of 45lbs.
- Strong communication and teambuilding skills.
- Willingness to learn and be flexible to changing State and program requirements.
- Able to be patient and work with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a respectful and professional manner.
- Strong computer skills and able to navigate programs for data entry and recording.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

- Education And Experience:
- Must have a high school diploma or GED.
- Have and maintain current Red Cross First Aid Certificate and CPR Certificate.
- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing in English; Spanish, preferred.
- Minimum 6 months of experience.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience working in the art field.
- Advance knowledge of paint application and color theory.
- Experience working with 3D materials such as clay or other sculpting tools.
- Knowledge of gallery/ studio practices.
- Experience with other performing arts such as dance, music, photography etc.

- Schedule: Monday – Friday 7:45am – 4:15pm.
- Compensation: 403B available with employer 4% provided after employee puts in 6%.
