About the role

Minimum qualifications for Direct Care Workers include being over 18 years of age, having good physical health, passing a physical and TB skin test, having two work references, and being capable of meeting the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of each resident. They must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, handle emergencies, and complete necessary paperwork accurately and promptly.

Responsibilities

• Complete CLS/Respite logs 30 minutes prior to shift ending
• Completing daily programs, including documentation
• Acting as a strong advocate for the rights of residents
• Following all treatment plans as outlined in the Person’s Served Plan of Service
• REPORT ANY ABUSE/NEGLECT IMMEDIATELY
• Absisting person served with outings, documenting outings as needed, and keeping an accurate count of any money
• Help maintain the quality of the home environment by following the consumers PCP and assisting, prompting, guiding them to complete their goals
• Sign all logs daily. Logs must match time sheet for hours worked
• Communicate with support service personnel and parent/guardians
• Use gentle teaching
• Stay calm and professional at all times
• Properly complete all duties assigned to you for your shift
• Document all logs as needed
• No sleeping, abuse, or violation of PCP will be tolerated

Requirements

• Competent in reporting requirements, first aid, CPR, personal care, supervision, protection, resident rights, safety & fire prevention, prevention & containment of communicable diseases
• Attend any training classes you are scheduled for and alert the Corporate Office if you need an update
