Supervises and assists residents in all daily life skills, reporting directly to the Residential Supervisor. Maintains the assigned facility and is on-call 24 hours per day from Monday 8am to the following Monday 8am as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma with human services experience in a Residential setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Act 33, Act 34, and FBI Clearances required
- Current driver’s license and vehicle insurance
Responsibilities
- Arrive for work on time, at least 5 minutes prior to the start of shift
- Provide coverage for any assigned site
- Read daily progress notes from previous staff to stay informed of recent occurrences in the home
- Ensure residents attend daily programming as scheduled
- Enforce House rules and document any incidents appropriately
- Complete merit system paperwork and daily progress notes on residents
- Complete all other assigned paperwork daily or as required
- Monitor medication according to procedure, initial medication sheets after each resident, and inform residents when refills are needed
- Count medications before placing them in the cabinet and record the count on the proper form
- Engage and encourage residents to participate in group discussions and activities
- Assist residents in achieving goals and daily living skills, including cooking, cleaning, and laundry
- Be available to talk to residents as needed and educate them in a professional, mature manner
- Handle immediate problems in the home; refer serious issues to appropriate staff
- Know the locations of all emergency shut-off valves and breaker boxes
- Maintain open, positive communication and a cooperative attitude with staff and supervisors
- Provide transportation for residents to appointments as needed
- Attend all mandated CCC in-service training and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification
- Attend monthly staff meetings and follow the programming schedule established for the site
- Hold monthly fire drills and ensure all licensing regulations are upheld in the homes
- Notify appropriate personnel if leaving the group home between 8:00 A.M. and 4:30 P.M.
- Follow through with the on-call procedure and respond to calls immediately while on call
- Make quick decisions related to calls received while on call and notify the Residential Supervisor only for emergencies requiring additional assistance
- Maintain and uphold Community Counseling Center’s policies, respect confidentiality, and exhibit professionalism at all times
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Bending, stooping, climbing, reaching, and grasping
- Finger dexterity for writing and data entry on a keyboard
- Ability to hear, see, read, and drive up to a 16-passenger van
- Able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds
