About the role
The Registered Nurse (RN) performs competent-level nursing care using the critical-thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice—assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care (teaching and health promotion), and evaluation—along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) form the foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills specific to the assigned clinical area.

This 20-bed unit serves a diverse patient population, including but not limited to: CHF, Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Diabetes, Vascular, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis with Surgical Intervention, Wound Care, and various other disease processes.
Requirements
- RN-Associate’s Degree, RN-Bachelor’s Degree, RN-Diploma, or RN-Master’s Degree
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State RN license in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire
New Graduate Nurses are welcome to apply. A Transition to Practice Program supports new RN graduates to develop clinical reasoning and competency in clinical nursing practice.
