About the role

Direct Care Monitors are responsible for monitoring and observing clients, ensuring their safety and well-being, and providing motivational support and guidance to assist them in meeting therapeutic goals. Reports client observations and contributes to treatment decisions concerning therapy, discipline, and privileges. Monitors clients in medication self-administration, collects urine samples for laboratory screening, and administers breathalyzer tests for alcohol detection. Supports treatment plans by scheduling and coordinating client transportation, assisting in planning client interactive events, and providing security for the medical building.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and observe clients to ensure safety and well-being
  • Provide motivational support and guidance to help clients meet therapeutic goals
  • Report client observations and contribute to treatment decisions
  • Monitor clients during medication self-administration
  • Collect urine samples for laboratory screening
  • Administer breathalyzer tests for alcohol detection
  • Schedule and coordinate client transportation
  • Assist in planning client interactive events
  • Provide security for the medical building

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Any and all work experience is encouraged to apply; experience in corrections, security, home health aide (HHA), direct support professional (DSP), caregiver, or substance abuse counseling is a plus
  • Must be able to respectfully interact with substance abuse clients and form a working therapeutic alliance
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence and good driving record required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Ability to work overtime and occasional weekends

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to walk or move about facilities for up to two hours at a time to monitor and interact with clients
  • Ability to speak with others to exchange information and provide support
  • Ability to proofread and check documents and files for accuracy on a regular basis
  • Ability to respond to telephones and pages, and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises

Pay

$18.00 per hour with a shift differential of an additional $0.50 per hour for hours worked between 10:00pm–6:00am.

Schedule

3rd shift: 9:30pm–6:00am

About Our Atascocita Location

Alpharus Health’s largest facility, Atascocita is a residential correctional center focused solely on substance use treatment for court-ordered clients. With 12 buildings and nearly 500 clients, the facility provides a structured, secure environment without armed guards. Staff work collaboratively in a team of 170, including counselors, probation officers, and support staff. The location is undergoing major renovations to become a state-of-the-art treatment center.
