Dir, Financial Counseling

About the role
Responsible for directing and maintaining a fully integrated, system-wide operation that supports securing payment/funding sources for self-pay and other referred accounts. Ensures that the financial needs of customers are met through the various programs offered throughout the organization, maximizing the effectiveness of such programs. Programs include RGHS financial assistance, grants, third party insurers, COBRA, government programs, community-based programs, and entitlement programs.
Responsibilities
- Maintains thorough knowledge of various programs/funding sources to maximize resources available to uninsured and underinsured patients.
- Maintains thorough knowledge of all regulations and laws related to financial counseling, collections, and third-party reimbursements.
- Establishes and maintains an effective system-wide financial counseling process, including:
- Identification and/or referral of accounts
- Assessment and screening of referred accounts
- An all-inclusive application process
- Qualification/adjudication
- Personal customer service
- Ensures all referred accounts are processed timely and accurately, maximizing the effect of all related programs.
- Directs and maintains effective self-pay collections and customer service processes following all RGHS policies and government regulations.
- Reports and tracks all data necessary for financial reporting.
Requirements
- Four-year business or healthcare-related degree preferred; equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
- Five years of increasingly responsible management experience within social work or revenue cycle, preferably in a hospital setting.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of and experience with automated systems.
- Demonstrated ability to improve and integrate workflows and processes.
Physical Requirements
Sedentary work – exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods.
Pay
Pay range: $100,000.00 – $140,000.00
