About the Role
This senior leadership role oversees the Admissions Department’s strategy, customer relations, analysis, knowledge management, workforce, operations, and results. The position serves as an expert and resource for Admissions standards, policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Develop leadership skills for nurse, liaison, program scheduler, and other admissions staff through training, coaching, mentoring, and modeling in remote and in-person interactions.
- Collaborate with National, Division, Region, and Program leadership to improve program performance, quality, and growth.
- Lead the successful rollout and sustainability of national, divisional, and regional initiatives within the program.
- Model leadership through field coaching, account development, and community activities to foster a positive culture of growth and development.
Strategy
- Ensure the Admissions Department has an active and actionable strategic plan documented in the system.
- Collaborate with other program departments to align strategies.
Customer Focus
- Develop a customer-service-oriented Admissions Department by identifying and responding to customer needs.
- Review and provide guidance on program-related customer complaints.
- Support and develop quality improvement initiatives based on internal and external survey results and field time.
Measurement, Analysis, and Knowledge Management (MAKM)
- Manage Admissions-focused process improvement projects.
- Monitor and drive performance on Admissions KPIs, including:
- Length of Intake/Same Day Admit Speed
- Speed to Referral/Appointment
- Training Completion/Competency
- Program Scheduler Performance/Quality
- Exceed operating budget targets.
Workforce Management
- Oversee program adherence to standards and performance in:
- Training: Field coaching, completion of required and ad-hoc trainings, data-driven training needs analysis, ongoing professional development, and group presentations.
- Staffing: Demand-based scheduling, productivity management, account development, and schedule creation.
- Recruitment: Monitor and manage initiatives, evaluate FTE efficiency, ensure timely posting and hiring.
- Retention: Develop, implement, and monitor retention initiatives, provide ongoing staff support, and deliver regular feedback through field coaching.
Operations
- Ensure compliance with all required duties as outlined in training materials.
- Conduct audits (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual).
- Participate in monthly program, region, division, and national meetings.
- Manage budget and operational expenses.
Results
- Support a collaborative approach to achieving program, region, division, and national Admissions-related goals, KPIs, and metrics.
Requirements
- 5+ years of nursing experience preferred.
- 3+ years in a leadership/management role preferred.
- Hospice admissions experience preferred.
- Ability to work on multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Knowledge of industry policies and practices.
- Strong ability to motivate and develop others.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with leadership, patients, families, coworkers, and vendors.
- Proficiency with technology, including Excel, MS Teams, OneNote, SharePoint, and PowerBI, with a willingness to learn new tools.
- Experience developing strategies and solutions to improve Admissions performance.
- Ability to analyze large datasets to identify business, quality, and training needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in nursing or business from an accredited college or university (or international equivalent).
- Current RN license preferred (must be licensed in the state of the programs they cover).
