Responsibilities
- Provides prompt, polite, and professional service to residents.
- Sets up dining room tables with all utensils, chinaware, eating silverware, and glassware.
- Refills sugars, salt, pepper, creamers, and butter dishes after each meal.
- Sets up delivery and delivers daily room service orders when applicable.
- Sets up and replenishes all other beverage and service station items.
- Assists team with minor preparation and sidework.
- Assists residents and other team members with beverages, salads, soup, dessert, and all other service needs.
- Participates in all required training, orientation, meetings, and programs offered by the employer.
- Promptly discusses and resolves any potential care coordination problems with all involved team members and team leaders.
- Clears tables within assigned work section and cleans/wipes down tables and chairs after residents leave the dining room.
- Performs daily side cleaning duties as scheduled and requested, including spot sweeping the floor in the dining room after each meal.
- Assists residents with menu selections and responds to questions about menu items.
- Takes meal and beverage orders and serves requested items according to established guidelines.
- Responds to the dining needs of residents and guests while maintaining hospitality and service standards.
- Attends pre-meal briefing to gain knowledge of the meal and meal support activities.
- Follows all local, state, and federal policies regarding food handling.
- Maintains standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health.
- Maintains assigned tables and surrounding area in a complete state of cleanliness, appearance, and readiness.
- Performs dining room set-up and reset of tables in accordance with dining room procedures.
- Supports the dining room decorum and etiquette standards.
- Presents a professional demeanor that communicates service, goodwill, and genuine interest in residents’ unique needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to push, pull, or lift at least 30 pounds.
- Frequent transporting of residents in wheelchairs.
- Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, and bend for periods of up to eight hours with breaks.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written; English language skills adequate to communicate with residents and staff.
- Familiarity and willingness to work with the elderly population.
- Ability to routinely follow written and verbal instructions.
- Tray service abilities preferred but not necessary (training available).
Schedule
No late nights.
