This is a full-time, hourly position with a hiring range of $21.91 - $26.09 per hour. Shift differentials are available for eligible shifts and are stackable: an additional $1.00/hour for weekend shifts and $1.50/hour for evening shifts. The role requires working evenings and one weekend day.
Responsibilities
- Lead meal service operations by coordinating setup, staffing, service delivery, and cleanup activities within the servery and dish room.
- Ensure accurate ingredient labeling and allergen identification for menu and salad bar items.
- Manage cash handling procedures, including accounting for all cash and charge slips, and reconciling other tender types (charge cards, departmental charges) at the end of each shift.
- Organize and supervise Dining Room Attendants to ensure the dining area is properly stocked, staffed for each meal, and adheres to scheduled mealtimes.
- Track employee start and finish times.
- Oversee breakdown and cleanup following each meal and at the end of each school break.
- Ensure compliance with sanitation guidelines and proper dress code for Dining Room Attendants and Dish Room Staff.
- Secure the building, dining area, and supplies after each meal.
- Assign and manage the checker function to facilitate student flow and ensure accurate meal counts using the swipe program.
- Perform additional dining area services as requested.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of previous food service and/or supervisory experience.
- Serve Safe certification required (will be asked to complete upon hiring if not already certified).
- Certificate from the Vermont State DLC to serve alcohol is helpful.
- Knowledge of food sanitation standards and safety procedures.
- Familiarity with slicing and serving equipment.
- Strong math skills, including the ability to make change.
- Computer experience to generate and adjust ingredient signs for display.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 60 lbs. frequently, including lifting items above waist level.
- Requires frequent and repetitive bending, reaching, twisting, and turning.
- Requires frequent walking and long periods of standing.
