About the role
The Dining Room Manager oversees food and beverage service to residents in accordance with established policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of residents while exercising proper authority with the staff.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrates attention to detail and advises supervisor when supplies diminish for reorder.
- Communicates effectively with supervisor and kitchen staff.
- Ensures compliance and safety by maintaining clean and well-stocked dining areas, including:
- Ironed tablecloths and neatly folded napkins.
- Clean cutlery and glasses on tables.
- Vacuumed carpets and filled sugar, salt, and pepper containers.
- Addresses resident concerns or problems with service immediately.
- Maintains facilities and equipment, including:
- Locking up alcohol and cash drawers as appropriate.
- Inspecting refrigerators, walk-in freezers, juice machines, and snack bars for cleanliness.
- Ensuring trash is disposed of properly and kitchen floors are mopped.
- Verifying cleanliness of dining rooms, pubs, and family dining areas before shifts end.
- Locking doors, drawing curtains, and clearing tables at appropriate times.
- Prepares and serves meals as outlined by Phoenix S&P’s and assists in taking inventory of supplies.
- Provides resident care and food services, including:
- Clearing plates before desserts are served.
- Providing wait staff service to residents as backup when necessary.
- Ensuring all food functions are set up and delivered.
- Touring the dining room during meals to evaluate quality of service.
- Supervises wait staff, including:
- Ensuring staff arrive on time, are properly dressed, and prepared for shifts.
- Accounting for all residents at meals and reporting no-shows to the Wellness or Family Experience Director.
- Monitoring room service meal delivery and pickup.
- Interviewing, hiring, and training new dining room staff.
- Creating and managing staff schedules.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous dining room and server experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to interact effectively with residents and staff.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of dietary procedures and Health Department regulations pertaining to food service operations.
- Ability to serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Primarily a standing position, with extended periods of standing in one place.
- Exposure to extreme heat and cold temperatures.
