About the role
The Dining Room Manager oversees all aspects of the dining room and Bistro areas, leading the dining service team and fostering a welcoming environment.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and supervise the dining service staff, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Foster a collaborative work environment, encouraging open communication and teamwork.
- Oversee daily operations, implementing and monitoring procedures for setting up dining areas.
- Guide, direct, and support wait service team members to provide professional, courteous, and efficient dining service.
- Cooking and service management: plan and conduct effective daily pre-meal meetings, prepare a monthly team member work schedule, and manage resident meal reservation requests.
- Quality control and service excellence: uphold high standards of service, train staff in etiquette and customer service, and handle resident feedback professionally.
- Safety and sanitation: ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, maintain a clean and hygienic dining environment, and conduct training sessions on food safety.
- Inventory and resource management: manage inventory of dining supplies, collaborate with the Food Service Director, and ensure high-quality products at competitive prices.
- Resident relations and engagement: interact with residents to understand their preferences, plan and execute special dining events, and advocate for residents' dining satisfaction.
- Administrative duties: prepare schedules for dining staff, collaborate with other department managers, and participate in developing the annual operating budget.
- Support organizational mission and comply with company policies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business administration, or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in a managerial role within a dining or hospitality setting, with a preference for experience in a senior living environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by the needs of the community.
- Strong understanding of the English language, sufficient to read and write.
- Physical qualifications: ability to stand and move around the dining area for extended periods, handle food and dining equipment, and occasionally lift objects up to 25 pounds.
