Dining assistant

About the Role

The Dining Services Aide assists with the preparation and serving of all meals to the residents of the community. Assignments are determined by the needs of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Learn new food service routines within a short period.
• Set up meal trays and assist with serving meals.
• Assist with preparing meals.
• Strip down returned trays and wash dishes.
• Check and record chlorine concentration and water temperature of the dishwashing machine at the beginning of the shift.
• Observe water temperatures of the dishwasher during dishwashing cycles.
• Operate the dishwasher.
• Maintain quaternary solution in sanitizer buckets.
• Prepare nourishments and snacks.
• Store groceries in a safe, orderly, and clean manner.
• Clean work surfaces in the kitchen, dining room, and refrigerators.
• Sweep, mop, and maintain floors in the kitchen and dining area.
• Carry out trash and garbage in the kitchen and dining areas.
• Leave the kitchen in a clean and sanitary manner.
• Assist the Lead Cook or Dining Services Manager as needed.
• Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of dietary staff.
• Work cooperatively with personnel in all departments, upholding company values.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and corporate guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read technical procedures and follow recipes.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must obtain and maintain a food handlers’ certificate.
