About the Role

Provide leadership to promote teamwork and continuous improvement, assisting with budget items, shipments, process control issues, and cross-training.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize work and shift setup according to throughput requirements.
  • Participate in staffing projections and facilitate team overtime and vacation scheduling per policy.
  • Handle first-line performance issues and communicate respectfully with employees about time management and workmanship.
  • Notify supervision when further action is needed to improve performance.
  • Provide objective, fact-based input for performance reviews and team-building projects.
  • Train employees on new skills if TATS certified; otherwise, coordinate with the TATS trainer to improve or maintain performance.
  • Assign training responsibilities when appropriate and coordinate resources to support other areas as needed.
  • Maintain a harassment-free environment and avoid favoritism or its perception.
  • Notify appropriate parties when a process is out of control and facilitate technique card/router changes.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for out-of-control conditions and promote process control within teams.
  • Coordinate long- and short-term capacity requirements and throughput commitments with planning/supervisors.
  • Assist with strategies to forecast and attain team measurements.
  • Interface with customers, engineering, and other departments as needed.
  • Record daily attendance accurately and confirm with individuals/teams per policy.
  • Contact appropriate resources if an employee may not be fit for duty and address the issue promptly.
  • Ensure compliance with safe work habits, housekeeping procedures, and company policies.
  • Notify supervision of policy deviations and comply with department Lead position expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to adjust shift and perform direct labor tasks as required by team and production needs.
  • Ability to interface with other teams and support areas.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ensures instructions are clear and unambiguous.
  • Ability to make "shop floor" presentations to customers, engineering, and other departments.
  • Meet department qualifications, which may be shift-specific.
  • Excessive absenteeism (excluding approved leaves) or inability to perform Lead duties may result in dismissal from the position.
