Dimensional Control Technician

About the role

The Dimensional Control Technician reports to the QA/QC Manager and performs surveys of fabricated and erected components throughout the construction and loadout lifecycle. The role involves creating and distributing detailed survey reports to the Project Team and Client.

Responsibilities

• Operate effectively within a survey team with minimal supervision
• Perform duties across all aspects of Dimensional Control
• Prepare survey drawings and reports using AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
• Perform and verify surveys of fabrication components, piping spools, and other construction elements
• Work out of mobile equipment such as manlifts and at various heights as necessary
• Direct and perform simple Dimensional Control surveys and projects
• Liaise with the Project Team and client representatives, draft, and check final project reports

Requirements

• Experienced with various survey technologies, including Metrology, 3-D Calculation, and Drawing software
• Ability to execute tasks such as surveying, calculations, drawings, and related survey reports
• Competent in operating a Total Station
• Strong written and oral communication skills; well-organized
• Mid-level knowledge of AutoCAD, Excel, and Word
• High School diploma, GED, or equivalent work-related experience

• Standing, walking, turning, twisting, bending, and stooping (essential functions)
• Pushing, pulling, reaching forward, and reaching overhead (essential functions)
• Climbing (essential function)
• Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing (required for safe and efficient work in an industrial environment)
• Lifting: up to 25-50 pounds regularly, occasionally 75-100 pounds

Environmental Conditions

80 to 90% of work activities are performed indoors. Occasional outdoor work may be required in hot, cold, wet, dry, dusty, or paint environments.
