About the role

New Era Cap, LLC is an international lifestyle brand headquartered in Buffalo, NY with an authentic sports heritage dating back over 100 years. The Digitizer role is responsible for collaborating with Design, Graphic Design, Production Art, and Product teams to convert graphic designs, logos, and artwork into digital files for embroidery machines. This process ensures creative concepts are translated into production-ready formats for domestic and global production while maintaining the integrity of the embroidery library for all active, inactive, and confidential tapes.

This position is 100% on-site at New Era Cap’s Headquarters in downtown Buffalo, NY, fostering in-person collaboration five days a week. HQ features an inviting atmosphere with an on-site café, fitness center, and Flagship store.

Responsibilities

  • Perform day-to-day digitizing activities by converting graphic designs, logos, and artwork into digital files for embroidery machines.
  • Collaborate with the digitizing team to manage the daily workload in Job Tracker to ensure timely processing of requests and meet internal/external SLAs.
  • Process daily workload and develop assignment schedules to streamline digitizing work overflow to outsource partners.
  • Assist with maintaining databases of embroidery files for active and inactive tapes, including monitoring confidential logos and league rights.
  • Oversee sampling and production of digitized files from production locations and third-party resources, providing direction/updates as needed.
  • Upload vector artwork into ROAL and maintain art and tape information in the system.
  • Assist Global Quality with embroidery improvements for domestic and global production.
  • Collaborate with ROAL and Global Production Teams to address graphic errors in digitized files or ROAL output.
  • Coordinate New Era Hot Market designs, tape creation, and ROAL’ing to support production.
  • Provide off-hours support for new tape requests, clinches, and at-once opportunities.
  • Train and onboard third-party digitizing resources on New Era processes and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all sensitive matters.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design or related field preferred; relevant job experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in digitizing graphic designs.
  • Ability to accurately translate colors required.
  • Illustrator experience required; Photoshop preferred.
  • Experience with embroidery software required; Wilcom preferred.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and efficiently prioritize work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, product integrity, production cycle timelines, and time/action calendar management.
  • Understanding of embroidery operation procedures.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $50,000 - $60,000 (plus bonus & benefits) for candidates located in Western New York. Actual compensation is determined by factors including skill set, education, essential job duties, and experience.

Schedule

This role is 100% on-site in Buffalo, NY, requiring in-person collaboration five days a week. Minimal travel (0% to 5%) may be required for domestic and/or global needs.
