We are seeking a full-time Digitization Assistant to handle all primary digitization tasks for an NSF grant-funded project, train interns, and coordinate with departmental staff.
Responsibilities
- Handle digitization tasks, including specimen preparation and imaging, image quality checks, metadata population and cleanup, georeferencing, and coordination with the Museum Specialist for Mollusca.
- Train part-time interns on the grant in assigned digitization tasks and facilitate their work.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year collections digitization experience.
- Experience with specimen handling and imaging.
- Experience with natural history collections (e.g., zoological, botanical).
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years digitization experience with EMu.
- Two years experience working with natural history collections and databases.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
- Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
- Must be able to frequently position oneself/body to accomplish job duties.
- Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, including pushing, pulling, and lifting objects.
Pay
Expected salary for the Digitization Assistant is $45,000/annual. Pay will be determined based on skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization, and depth and scope of experience.
