About the Program

Students prepare to assume responsibility for the overall production of digital video activities such as scripts, lighting, camera operation, electronic news gathering, field/studio production, and video editing.

The purpose of this program is to prepare students for initial employment as production assistants, audio/video equipment technicians, video/TV camera operators, video editors, and broadcast technicians. This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Arts, A/V Technology and Communication career cluster. It provides technical skill proficiency and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills.

The content includes communication skills, leadership skills, human relations and employability skills, safe and efficient work practices, and preparation to assume responsibility for the overall production of digital video activities (e.g., scripts, lighting, camera operation, electronic news gathering, field/studio production, video editing).

Certification & Articulation

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Certification
  • CTSO: SkillsUSA and/or HOSA provide leadership training and reinforce specific career and technical skills
  • Articulation: May be available towards credits at Florida public colleges/universities. Speak with a Career Counselor for more information

Schedule

Start Date: August, January

Times: Full-time (Day): Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Program Length: 900 hours – approximately 8 months to complete

Program Structure

  • OCP A – Course Number: RTV0015, Course: Digital Videography (450 hours)
  • OCP B – Course Number: RTV0016, Course: Digital Audio-Video Technology (300 hours)
  • OCP C – Course Number: RTV0017, Course: Digital Video Direction and Production (150 hours)

Tuition & Fees

Estimated Tuition, Lab, and Fees: $5,842.00 (Includes $60.00 Facility and Equipment Use Fee)

  • Application Fee: $45.00 (non-refundable, not covered by Financial Aid)
  • Textbook(s) – estimate: $228.00
  • Uniform (2 Black Polos): $60.00 (may be covered for Pell-eligible students)

Estimated Total Cost of Program: $6,175.00

Tuition is $2.92 per hour for Florida residents. Tuition is $11.71 per hour for Non-Florida residents.
