Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) is a leading provider of proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems. This position involves exercising considerable technical latitude in reviewing, researching, designing, developing, and solving complex engineering problems. The role may also involve advising or leading projects, guiding the development of engineering solutions, and ensuring compliance with various standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Determines technical objectives for advanced engineering problems.
  • Represents the organization as a prime technical contact within the engineering team for assigned projects.
  • Formulates plans and guides the development and implementation of engineering solutions, including deployment, resource requirements, testing, documentation, integration, and compliance.
  • Plans and coordinates the maintenance of engineering solutions, including documentation, reporting, publishing, and technical presentations.
  • Plans for future applications of solutions based on new developments in engineering technology.
  • Participates in or leads the development of new or expanded business opportunities.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution, with progressive engineering experience as follows: twelve or more years with a bachelor's degree, ten or more years with a master's degree, or seven or more years with a PhD.
  • May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrates a detailed and extensive technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice, with experience in organizing, planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones.
  • Substantive experience in project leadership.
  • Working expertise in Digital thread, MBD, and Model Based Enterprise.
  • General experience with analysis tools, including FEA, CFD.
  • Knowledge in each tool's API preferred.
  • Previous NX open programming experience preferred.
  • Ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals.
  • The capability of representing the organization as a prime technical contact.
  • The ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
  • Customer-focused and able to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Able to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • A Professional Engineering License, original work(s) published in professional engineering journals, invited to present one or more original works to an engineering symposium, and invited and/or participated on an engineering review panel are desirable.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance is required.
