Digital Systems Intern - Fall 2026 - SEAL

About the Role
The Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL) at GTRI is seeking a student intern to join the Sensor Systems Engineering Division starting Fall 2026. The intern will assist Research Engineers in various system engineering tasks, focusing on Digital Signal Processing design and simulation, digital design and development, system engineering, electronic systems integration, and testing.
Job Duties
- Assist in Digital signal processing design and simulation using MATLAB
- Implement digital systems using VHDL and FPGA hardware
- Test and characterize Digital, Analog, and RF components and systems
- Develop and execute automated test scripts in NI LabVIEW
- Analyze measured test data
- Assemble and wire custom modules and chassis
- Generate schematics and PCB layout
- Develop C/C++ code
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Intern pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Must be registered for Full-time Internship Credit or 6+ credit hours for Part-Time Intern
- U.S. Citizenship required due to research contracts with the U.S. federal government
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in 1 or more programming languages
- Task / team leadership experience
- Strong math skills and ability to learn complex engineering concepts
- Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
- Configuration management tools
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
