Digital Producer

WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA, is looking for a well-rounded full-time Digital Content Producer to create content for its website, mobile products, and social media platforms.

About the role

You must be an excellent storyteller who can edit and create content under intense competition and constant deadline pressure. Breaking news and weather are critical in our area, and the digital producer must maximize coverage while accomplishing daily responsibilities. You will report to the Digital Content Manager.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and publish breaking news, weather, daily news, sports, and feature stories for the station website and social media platforms.
• Write compelling headlines, especially for mobile and social media, and carefully craft mobile push notifications for breaking news or severe weather.
• Work with reporters and assignment editors to ensure content is posted accurately and quickly.
• Collaborate with producers, assignment editors, and managers to cross-promote content across all platforms.
• Develop multimedia special projects.
• Manage live streams of newscasts and breaking news.
• Contribute ideas to help grow the station’s digital platforms.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in a professional television newsroom or web-publishing environment.
• Compelling news and editorial judgment.
• Excellent AP writing skills.
• Video editing experience.
• Experience with social media best practices.
• Flexibility to work different shifts (including nights and weekends), holidays, and on short notice to cover a 24-hour news cycle.
• Ability to work well in an environment with frequent interruptions.
• Proficiency in Photoshop.
• Related military experience will be considered.
• In-person attendance is required.
