Digital Press Lead Operator
About the role
Your Job Georgia-Pacific’s Hummingbird facility in West Chester, OH is currently seeking a Digital Press Lead Operator for an emerging opportunity within our Corrugated Packaging business unit. The successful candidate will coach and lead digital press operators, while also operating themselves, in our state-of-the-art roll to roll inkjet web press operation, which is the first of its kind in the United States. There are plenty of growth opportunities at Georgia Pacific’s Hummingbird facility, as we believe in promoting from within and setting candidates up for success.
Responsibilities
- Maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist Supervisor in leading, mentoring, and developing shift employees utilizing our Principles-Based Management philosophy to improve capability and value creation.
- Lead the shift to ensure safety, quality and productivity in the supervisor’s absence.
- Ensure equipment operation and finished product meets defined standards and targets.
- Work as a team to help meet or exceed safety, quality, production, and waste goals.
- Communicate effectively on shift with others and via email as needed.
- Troubleshoot issues and perform adjustments accurately, efficiently, and according to procedures, minimizing unexpected downtime and maintenance calls.
- Performing regular preventative maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
- Monitor the process to maintain quality and inspecting the final product for quality, noticing any subtle differences in color, to include shades of color and brightness.
- Perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day, in an industrial environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience operating and/or supervising printing presses.
- Two (2) years or more of leadership experience with demonstrated ability to successfully coach team members on team and individual performance.
- Previous experience troubleshooting, problem solving, and understanding of root cause analysis.
- Willingness to obtain certification to drive both fork trucks and clamp trucks.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
Qualifications
- Experience providing quality developmental feedback to employees.
- Experience operating Digital and/or Flexo Printing Presses.
- Knowledge and/or experience in corrugated packaging, folding carton, printing, or Point of Purchase (POP) display industries.
- Knowledge of reliability and Preventative Maintenance (PM) systems.
- Knowledge of print production processes and color theory.
