Digital Finishing Operator

About the role

The Digital Finishing Operator focuses on the setup, operating, and adjusting press equipment for efficient production while maintaining quality, accuracy, equipment maintenance, and a clean, organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality labels to meet job specifications outlined on the label order to match customer standards.
• Receive job assignments from Press Supervisor or Team Lead; read job specifications and select correct dies, cores, and rewind method for the job.
• Review job jacket to ensure all finishing, packaging, and shipping specifications are addressed.
• Input data, including time and materials used, into job management software.
• Insert shaft through core and secure roll on the press in-feed position.
• Splice end of roll to stock remaining on press and adjust tension and feed as directed.
• Start press, adjusting speed and alignment of stock to the print cylinder as necessary.
• Adjust printing impression as necessary.
• Inspect for imperfections and make adjustments as needed.
• Communicate job-specific information or changes to the supervisor in a timely manner to minimize production downtime.
• Report any production or press issues to supervisor promptly.
• Maintain accurate inventory usage at all times.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance as required.
• Keep work areas clear and organized; maintain housekeeping standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of experience in a manufacturing environment; printing or packaging industry experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and interpret rulers, scales, and other measurement devices.

Qualifications

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and frequently walk.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with or without mechanical assistance.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
