About the role

The NHL Creative Service Department is looking for a talented Digital Designer to join our expanding team and support our growing demand for digital creative. As a Digital Designer, you will collaborate with and take direction from senior creatives, assisting in creating graphics, images, and templates to support the league's digital content across multiple departments and league initiatives. You should have a demonstrated understanding of digital design best practices, social media platforms, an acute eye for detail, layout, and typography. The candidate will have experience in digital production and basic timeline animation skills. Knowledge of NHL teams and players, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under tight deadlines are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Translate business objectives, concepts, and information into visually compelling digital designs under tight deadlines while working alongside and taking direction from senior creatives.
  • Work within established NHL Brand guidelines while adding creative flair to design assets.
  • Follow instructions, collaborate in a group setting, and apply independent conceptual skills.
  • Build an understanding of the strategy, audience, and objectives behind design projects to deliver on-brand creative.
  • Ensure consistent brand image communication through design development and projects.
  • Ensure all projects conform to required digital specs, quality standards, and deadlines.
  • Seek opportunities to continually improve job skills.
  • Work collaboratively with the Creative Service Team and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of digital design experience.
  • Solid understanding of digital design principles, typography, design process, and current trends.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, InDesign, Acrobat, and After Effects, as well as other digital design tools.
  • Basic understanding of Adobe Firefly.
  • Strong knowledge of digital production and best practices.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or a related field.
  • Link to portfolio samples showing recent and relevant work must be submitted for consideration.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience gained with an agency, in-house design group, or in professional sports/entertainment.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and programming languages.
  • Experience designing websites for multiple screens.
  • Knowledge of UI, UX, responsive, and mobile design.

Pay

Salary range: $70,000. Actual base pay for a successful candidate will be determined based on experience/training, market demands, and geographic location.
