About the role

This position serves as the lead for the Digital Delivery Office within HDR's Architecture practice in Charlotte, NC. The role involves providing direction for Digital Delivery Coordinators and Specialists, managing digital model environments and deliverables, and ensuring the quality and coordination of project models.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction for the Digital Delivery Coordinators and Specialists, managing the digital model environment and deliverables at the project level.
  • Possess an advanced understanding of how all disciplines interact and construction documents are produced.
  • Work directly with the Project Manager to assist Coordinators and Specialists in generating and maintaining the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP) and project initiation procedures, establishing the server infrastructure, discipline models, and digital deliverables outlined in the project scope.
  • Execute digital deliverables and supporting production teams throughout the complete lifecycle of projects.
  • Provide technical support, communicate the deliverable schedule to the project team, and monitor the model health and coordination processes of the project.
  • Maintain quality by monitoring the model health and coordination processes of the project, from the planning phase through issue of construction documents.
  • Execute these tasks autonomously and mentor and provide guidance to other team members.
  • Oversee and contribute to the development and maintenance of the Digital Delivery Plan (DDP).
  • Monitor and oversee the establishment of the document management system and help maintain the server infrastructure for multi-discipline projects.
  • Ensure the team has the appropriate software, versions, access, and training needed to execute the project requirements.
  • Generate and maintain model setup including project information, coordinates, scales, orientations, scope boundaries, match-lines, views, sheets, and general models, to accommodate the disciplines and project requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain company standards and model health.
  • Host Digital Delivery coordination meetings with the Digital Design team to ensure optimal quality control through Design Reviews and 3D Coordination processes.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and compile all project digital deliverables and exchange process at predetermined milestones.
  • Project archiving at submittals and closeout.
  • Engage in close and effective communication and presentations with HDR management, production staff, and clients.
  • Mentor staff to help develop their skillsets.
  • Provide guidance for Project Managers to support project needs.
  • Engage with other Digital Delivery Leads to provide support and guidance.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 5 years digital delivery (model management) experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems.
  • Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure.
  • Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools.
  • Advanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication tools.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications.
  • Familiarity with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies.
  • Familiarity with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications.
  • Familiarity with content creation and management concepts.
  • Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support.
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and leadership traits are essential.
  • Strong organizational skills to establish priorities between technical support requests and project work.

Qualifications

  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Experience in Healthcare, Science, Technology, and/or Civic facilities.
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED.
  • Preference is given to local candidates.
