Program/Dept.: Court Reporting Services / Court Services – Part-time (20 hours/week) position located in St. Augustine.

About the role

Responsible for covering court proceedings using digital audio recording systems and producing audio/video recordings. Records and monitors all assigned court proceedings, making annotations as needed. Requires sustained focus for long periods. Files and maintains documents and recording media in proper order. Ensures equipment is in good working order and reports malfunctions promptly. Transcribes court events accurately and timely as required.

Establishes working relationships with court personnel, the Clerk of the Court, the State Attorney, the Public Defender, other State agencies, and the public. Reports directly to the Court Reporting Manager/Digital Court Reporting Supervisor. Some travel to courthouses throughout the circuit is required (mileage reimbursable at the state rate). Headquarters may change based on court needs.

Responsibilities

  • Operate digital audio recording systems to record court proceedings
  • Produce audio/video recordings from digital systems
  • Monitor court proceedings and make annotations as appropriate
  • File and maintain documents and recording media in proper order
  • Ensure equipment is functional; report malfunctions in a timely manner
  • Transcribe court events accurately and in a timely fashion as needed
  • Interact professionally with court personnel, agencies, and the public
  • Travel to courthouses throughout the circuit (mileage reimbursed)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of secretarial and/or clerical experience (college coursework may substitute year-for-year)
  • Knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
  • Ability to learn and apply skills for operating digital audio court recording systems
  • Typing speed of 55 correct words per minute preferred
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Professional demeanor with the public and court personnel
  • Proficiency with personal computers in a Windows environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and internet use

Annual salary: $21,990 (paid monthly).
