About the role
At Canvas, there are five behaviors we live by each day that help us be known for our heart and our people. The Digital Communications Specialist II drives digital engagement and growth for Canvas audiences through the creation and execution of digital marketing initiatives across a variety of communications channels, with a strong emphasis on email marketing. They will be responsible for providing the highest level of quality service to all internal stakeholders and external members.
Responsibilities
- Drive the planning, execution, and management of Canvas’ email marketing, website content, in-branch display, online and mobile banking platforms, and additional member communications channels.
- Research and implement strategies to maximize current digital channel performance.
- Leverage data and member insights to develop recommendations about iterative digital strategies.
- Collaborate with the director of multimedia planning to improve Canvas’ approach to digital channels, focusing on email marketing and website optimization.
- Identify opportunities to innovate and make recommendations for implementing new media.
- Coordinate the delivery of a wide range of marketing initiatives from planning to execution.
- Collaborate with the creative services team on ideation of creative assets and maintaining brand standards and consistency across all forms of digital marketing, including member emails, the Canvas Credit Union website, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and other digital marketing channels.
- Collaborate with the senior digital marketing specialist, web development team, multimedia planning director, product owners, and other stakeholders to execute initiatives and projects associated with the digital member journey.
- Work with the creative team to leverage content to drive more digital connectivity with members and potential members.
- Work closely with product teams and other stakeholders to develop content and explore untapped opportunities for improvement and optimization.
- Maintain brand standards, stay abreast of best practices, and analyze evolving trends across various digital marketing channels.
- Identify and track key performance indicators for each digital channel. Analyze performance results and produce monthly reports for each channel.
- Ensure positive and effective relationships with Canvas team members, members, and business partners.
- Consistently meet strategic organization goals and objectives.
- Exhibit support for the organization’s goals, values, initiatives, and cost control.
- Comply with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and other compliance requests and requirements.
- Follow all safety and security guidelines to properly safeguard member and organization assets.
- Embrace ongoing education and learn/apply new skills and software applications.
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, computer science, or related fields with an emphasis on digital marketing.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience.
- For current Canvas employees: must be meeting performance expectations, consistently demonstrating HEART behaviors, and must submit an up-to-date resume or update your Work History profile with current responsibilities and accomplishments.
Skills
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and ability to apply them across areas of responsibility.
- Excellent layout and design skills.
- Moderate skills in Adobe Creative Cloud.
- Ability to balance aesthetic and production considerations to execute rough and final designs utilizing creative tools—photography, illustration, type, color, texture, and dimensions.
- Experience in digital marketing management and growth.
- Basic understanding of on-page and technical SEO practices.
- Proven ability to create, edit, and outline content.
- Ability to use performance data to inform strategy and optimize content.
- Advanced knowledge of HTML5/CSS3, basic understanding of source code, on-page elements, etc.
- Strong understanding of Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Google Search Console.
- Strong relationship-building and teamwork skills with the ability to develop and maintain consultative relationships with team members and business partners.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work cross-departmentally.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization, and time management skills; manages multiple ongoing projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proven experience in email marketing, development of campaigns and journeys utilizing CRM or other email marketing platforms. Experience with HubSpot preferred.
- Demonstrated creativity and ability to think outside the box and drive change.
- Ability to serve as a backup to oversee social media channels.
- Proficient in Microsoft products.

Pay
This position has a starting pay range of $68,000.00 - $78,000.00 annually, with final pay rate determined based on experience, education, skills, and internal equity factors.
Schedule
High volume, fast-paced, dynamic office environment with some travel. Must be able to attend meetings and events outside of regular business hours. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, fax machines, and filing cabinets. Requires manual dexterity, the ability to lift files and open filing cabinets, and may require bending, stooping, or standing as necessary.
