About the role
As a Digital Automation Consultant (DAC) for Material Handling, you help customers navigate digital transformation and automation initiatives early—before requirements are locked in. Reporting to the DAC Leader, you'll diagnose operational challenges, align stakeholders, and translate customer needs into technical requirements for Belden's solution engineering teams. You'll shape winning strategies and lay the groundwork for successful delivery and long-term customer success. This individual contributor role carries high-impact, cross-functional technical leadership—guiding opportunities from discovery through solution validation. Using your Material Handling expertise, you'll ask the right questions to uncover customer needs and translate them into technical direction for the solutions engineering team.
Responsibilities
- Partner with stakeholders to analyze customer operations and identify automation opportunities in Material Handling environments
- Define outcome-driven use cases, KPIs, and success criteria aligned with customer goals
- Design and present automation solutions that build trust and long-term partnerships
- Translate operational needs into technical requirements and technical designs into business-friendly language
- Provide technical leadership across sales, Solution Consultants, engineering, and services
- Collaborate with technical teams on POCs, FATs, and network audits
- Share industry insights and use cases demonstrating ROI
- Build financial justifications for automation solutions and influence decision-making at all levels
- Relay customer insights and market trends to refine Belden's strategy
- Contribute to thought leadership in the Material Handling space
Requirements
- 5–7 years in Material Handling, automation, industrial networking, or similar
- Working knowledge of OT/IT networking (Ethernet, switching/routing, VLANs, wireless, resiliency, basic cybersecurity)
- Familiarity with automation, IIoT, robotics, Lean/Six Sigma; RPA tools (UiPath, Automation Anywhere) a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Track record of driving measurable business outcomes
Pay
Applicants can expect a base compensation range of $140,000 to $170,000, plus benefits and additional incentives based on the level of the role.
