Job Summary
The Dietitian is responsible for providing comprehensive nutritional care to patients identified with special needs and/or those who meet nutritional risk criteria. Nutritional care includes patient assessment and reassessment, patient and family education, interdisciplinary communication, nutritional plan of care development, and documentation of all interventions in accordance with hospital policy and acceptable practice standards.

Job Essentials
- Provide comprehensive nutritional assessment, counseling, and monitoring for inpatients and outpatients, including high-risk cases and enteral/parenteral nutrition management.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing, pharmacy, and the Nutrition Support Team to develop care plans, calculate nutritional requirements, and support metabolic and anthropometric evaluations.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards (e.g., JCAHO), and assist in developing and updating departmental policies and procedures.
- Deliver education and training to medical staff, students, dietitians, and food service personnel; serve as a nutrition resource and support in-service programs.
- Promote service excellence by communicating effectively, addressing patient concerns, participating in committees, supervising students/volunteers, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Foods and Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or related area
- Master's degree preferred
- ICU and Med/Surg experience required.
- Prior experince in writing Parenteral Nutrition Orders a plus.
- Proficiency in computer programs required.
- Must have the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Must possess the ability to understand and react effectively to the unique nutritional needs of patients of all ages as attained through educational training, continuing education or experience.
- Ability to communicate with patients, patient's family, dietary, medical and nursing personnel and outside agencies
- Ability to move about the hospital; interview patients at bedside, walk half the day.
Licenses/Certifications/Registries
- Certification in Nutrition Support (CNSC)
- Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
