Job Summary

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for assessing the nutritional status of patients and designing nutrition programs to maintain or improve their health. The CD also serves as a consultant within the Food and Nutrition Department and makes recommendations on menu options, snacks, and other aspects of nutritional provision.

What you will do in this role

  • Provide evidence-based nutrition counseling to patients on modified diets.
  • Conduct nutritional screenings and assessments of patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians to coordinate and implement nutritional recommendations.
  • Identify and communicate potential nutritional implications of medications and document this information in patients' records.
  • Notify the FNS Dietary Aides which patient foods are allowed and disallowed based on the prescribed diet.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in dietetics, food and nutrition, food service systems management or a related area that meets the requirements of the American Dietetic Association is required.
  • Registered through the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required.
  • Current state licensure (if mandated by law) is required.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification is required.
  • Applicant must be eligible and willing to sit for CDE exam within 2 years of hire date and/or first eligible exam.
  • Minimum of 1 year of dietitian experience is required.
