Dietetics Tech
About the role
This position is responsible for screening all new admits, assessing patients at-risk for malnutrition, and providing ongoing monitoring and follow-up of all low- and at-risk patients. The dietetic technician, registered (DTR) participates in quality improvement initiatives at the direction of Clinical Nutrition leadership and the dietitian. Demonstrates knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy across the adult life span, including the ability to provide education to patients/caregivers as indicated based on medical history and current clinical status. Requires the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s nutritional status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient’s age-specific needs. Proficient computer skills necessary for daily tasks.
Qualifications
Enrollment in or completion of: An approved Dietetic Technology Consortium Program at an accredited college or university through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND); OR an approved Nutrition or Dietetics Bachelor’s Program at an accredited college or university through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) within one year of hire date, must pass the national registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Must complete continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration.
Must have good interpersonal skills and a thorough understanding of therapeutic diets, either through coursework or on-the-job training and experience.
Certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration within 1 year after accepting Tech-Dietetic position.
