Dietetic Technician - Milk Lab - Part Time

Job Duties

  • Covers coordination with RDN to provide timely, cost-effective, and appropriate nutritional care.
  • Interprets physician/RDN orders using medical terminology and generic/trade names of all compounded components.
  • Performs calculations for preparation of ordered feeding products, including measurements, additives, and order fulfillment.
  • Adheres to established procedures for safe and accurate preparation of breast milk, formula, formula fortifiers, and/or nutrition additives.
  • Ensures proper labeling and tracking of prepared products.
  • Handles and prepares breast milk/formula using aseptic techniques.
  • Ensures products are used within proper expiration dates and manufacturer’s safe usage recommendations.
  • Organizes timely dispensing of final prepared breast milk and/or formula to unit refrigerators based on scheduled delivery times, considering expiration dates.
  • Communicates with co-workers to optimize breast milk and/or formula storage and preparation.
  • Documents in electronic health records and other paperwork as required for preparation, delivery, and inventory management.
  • Cleans and sanitizes the work area and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Performs quality assurance tasks, such as maintaining logs.
  • Checks equipment for proper operation and reports issues to supervisors.
  • Responsible for inventory and rotation of supplies.
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by managing time effectively, reducing waste, and promoting cost-effectiveness while ensuring patient safety and quality of care.
  • Aids in training other employees in breast milk and formula preparation and handling techniques as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience (Required)

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience may be a combination of related work experience and degree obtained (Associate’s Degree = 2 years; Bachelor’s Degree = 4 years).
