Dietary Technician - CARES Center - Jackson, MS

Job Responsibilities

• Assure that all meals are prepared and served three times daily, as appropriate, for CARES Center residents and School Day students.
• Prepare meals for transportation as needed.
• Be familiar with Child Nutrition, DOH, and Medicaid standards and follow Offer vs. Serve guidelines and practices.
• Assure that all meals are prepared under safe and sanitary conditions without contamination.
• Maintains portion and cost control, using standardized recipes and measuring.
• Provides for special dietary needs as directed by Dietary Manager and/or Registered Dietician.
• Provides diets and snacks as directed by physician orders.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment at all times in Kitchen and Dining Area.
• Washes, sanitizes and stores clean dishes after each meal.
• Monitor and document temperature of all fridge and freezers on a daily basis.
• Participates in the safety and infection control activities as directed.
• Participates in monthly supervision with Dietary Manager.
• Participates in monthly dietary team meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED;
• Three years’ experience cooking in a health care environment or with childhood nutrition;
• A basic understanding of dietary requirements;
• The ability to read, write and speak English;
• To be at least twenty-one years old;
• To possess a valid driver’s license;
• To be covered by the organization’s insurance provider.
