What You Will Do
- Checks NPO status with Nursing utilizing Server Round Sheets.
- Checks for new admissions and/or diet changes.
- Counsels patients during introduction rounds and collects and completes menus with patients prior to each meal.
- Enters meal orders and delivers trays from holding cart on a continuous basis (follows scripting).
- Reads menus to patients as necessary.
- Communicates with nursing and dietitians regarding special patient needs/concerns.
- Checks unit floor supplies.
- Creates floor supply list based on par levels.
- Collects dirty trays from assigned units.
- Checks nursing units for soiled carts.
- Begins bringing carts to the dishroom.
- Documents intake of fluids, carbohydrates, and calorie counts.
- Breaks down dirty trays to be washed.
- Assembles and delivers floor stock orders for the assigned unit.
- Fulfills meal orders following Food Safety And Sanitation Guidelines.
- Delivers meals in a timely fashion.
- Makes reports on delays in service.
- Ensures that all trays are covered prior to delivery to patient’s room.
- Carefully pours hot beverages as trays are delivered.
- Cleans unit kitchen, including refrigerator/freezer, and microwave.
- Insures that all items are properly wrapped, labeled, and dated.
- Prompts frequent hand washing after handling soiled or contaminated items.
- Follows isolation precautions on patient doors; uses appropriate protective equipment.
- Collaborates with patients’ families when they cannot participate in room service.
What You Will Need
- Ability to read and write small letters and numbers.
- Ability to communicate and understand written and oral communication.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and be mobile.
- Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required.
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free workplace, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes.
- Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment.
- Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.
- Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
