Duties and Responsibilities
- Aid in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the Dietary Department
- Create and maintain written job descriptions and performance evaluations for dietary personnel
- Inspect food storage rooms, utility closets, and other areas for upkeep and supply control
- Process diet changes and new diets as received from Nursing Department
- Review departmental complaints and grievances from personnel and make written reports
- Assist during resident discharge planning
- Participate in facility surveys and maintain records of resident food likes and dislikes
- Review therapeutic and regular diet plans and menus for compliance with physician’s orders
- Absorb charted dietary progress notes are informative and descriptive
- Maintain stock levels of staple and non-staple food, supplies, and equipment
- Assist the Infection Control Committee in developing aseptic and isolation techniques
- Ensure dietary service work areas, food storage, and food preparation areas are maintained in a clean and sanitary manner
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- A Food Service Sanitation Manager Certification is required
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, nursing care facility, or related medical facility
- Knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines governing dietary functions in nursing care facilities
