Dietary Float (Per Diem)

About the Role

The Dietary Float is at the forefront of customer service, providing patients and guests with service above and beyond expectations to ensure a memorable food and dining experience. Serving both in the hospital and in-house cafeteria, the Dietary Float ensures all needs are met while maintaining appropriate nutritional standards and sanitary conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen dish room, including proper cleaning and sanitizing of china, flatware, kitchen cooking utensils, and dishes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing equipment.
  • Assist with cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dining room, including floors.
  • Ensure trash is removed from the kitchen and brought to appropriate disposal areas.
  • Cross-train as a dietary aide and cafeteria cashier.
  • Assist the Cook with food preparation as needed.
  • Manage time effectively to meet deadlines and support organizational objectives.
  • Perform other duties as specified by the Food Services Manager and Lead Cook.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED certificate.
  • Ability to speak and read English and follow verbal directions.
  • Knowledge of operating dishwashers and other kitchen equipment.
  • Full knowledge of tray setting procedures and ability to read the Dietary manual.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • Does not exceed nine unplanned absences or episodes of tardiness in a 12-month period.
  • Follows departmental and organizational policies and procedures, including safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
  • Actively participates in departmental and facility-wide safety programs and committees.
  • Makes sound decisions, sets priorities, and manages time effectively.
  • Maintains required certifications and completes annual mandatory trainings within thirty (30) days of the due date.
