Dietary Aides/Server | Part-Time

About the Role

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of the dining room following meal service. This role requires attentiveness to the special needs of residents, including mobility deficits and memory impairment.

Responsibilities

• Assists residents when placing orders from the menu
• Provides beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee/tea)
• Refills salt/pepper/sugar bowls prior to and after each meal
• Reports any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor
• Understands sit-down service and proper serving techniques
• Has a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.)
• Knows proper food storage and labeling techniques
• Sweeps, mops, and vacuums kitchen and dining room
• Attends required in-services and staff meetings
• Assists with tray service
• Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information
• Interacts in a polite and considerate manner with residents, guests, co-workers, and supervisors

Requirements

• Must be in clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene
• Must be able to read and follow simple instructions
• Must possess the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks
• Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision
• Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects
• Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet
• Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays
