Dietary Aide/Server

About the role

The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean‑up and resetting of the dining room following meal service.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents when placing orders from the menu.
• Provide beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk, and coffee/tea).
• Refill salt, pepper, and sugar bowls prior to and after each meal.
• Report any broken equipment or tableware to the supervisor.
• Understand sit‑down service and proper serving techniques.
• Maintain a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.).
• Apply proper food storage and labeling techniques.
• Sweep, mop, and vacuum the kitchen and dining room.
• Attend required in‑services and staff meetings.
• Complete all other duties assigned.
• Be attentive to special needs of residents, including mobility deficits and memory impairment.
• Assist with tray service.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding the release of resident information.
• Interact in a polite, considerate manner with residents, guests, co‑workers, and supervisors.

Requirements

• Must be in a clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
• Must be able to read and follow simple instructions.
• Must possess the ability to perform simple, repetitive tasks.
• Must be able to learn quickly and apply learned principles.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and work under close supervision.
• Must be able to bend, reach, grasp, push, and pull objects.
• Must be able to stand and walk for sustained periods up to three (3) hours at a time.
• Must be able to lift 50 lb on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for 20 feet.
• Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members.
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
