Position Summary
The primary purpose of your job position is perform the day-to-day activities of the Dietary Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator, and/or the Director of Dietary Dept, to assure that quality nutritional services are provided on a daily basis and that the dietary dept is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.Education
Cook, AM Tray Aides must possess, as a minimum an eighth grade education, would prefer a high school diploma or equivalent with additional education. Evening positions maybe age 14 or older. Some experience with food operations beneficial in regards to proper food preparations and techniques, safe operating procedures, etc.Experience
Must have the ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language. On-the-job training provided as needed.Delegation of Authority
As a Dietary Aide, you are delegated by the Dietary Manager the responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties.Performance Standards
- Performs specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
- Perform day-to-day food service functions per standard of care.
- Day-to-day food service functions may include but are not limited to: preparing foods, serving foods, putting away foods, dishwashing, cleaning, sanitizing, sweeping, and mopping of kitchen floors, emptying garbage, cleaning walls, fans, carts, and cupboards, racks.
- Assist to maintain cleanliness/appearance of Dietary Department inside and out.
- Be able to lift at least 50lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Ensure that established handwashing procedures are followed.
- Ensure that supplies, equipment, etc., are maintained to provide a safe environment.
- Ensure that containers of hazardous chemicals in the department are properly labeled & stored.
- Ensure the use of safety equipment and supplies when lifting or moving heavy objects.
- Follow established safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a productive working relationship with other departments.
- Assume the responsibility for maintaining your professional competence through participation in programs of continuing education (i.e., departmental meeting, inservices, seminars, training programs, etc.)
- Promptly report equipment or facility damage to your supervisor.
- Submit accident/incident reports to the Safety Director within twenty-four hour (24) hours after their occurrence.
- Attends departmental and all staff meetings and educational sessions as part of job function.
- Maintain confidentiality of all resident information.
- Knock before entering a resident’ room.
- Ensure that the residents’ personal and property rights are followed at all times.
- Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the facility.
- May be required to take PFA training and assist residents at meals.
- Is responsible for any and all duties as assigned by the dietary manager.
